Musgrove Blames Wicker, Allies For High Jobless Rates

TUPELO - Northeast Mississippi's high jobless rate is linked to votes by now-Sen. Roger Wicker, says his special election opponent, former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove.

"Roger Wicker may be proud of his support for NAFTA, he may be proud of his vote to expand it and he may be proud of his votes for CAFTA and trade with China," Musgrove said Thursday at the Tupelo Furniture Market.

But Musgrove said the trade agreement should be renegotiated to give the state's workers a better deal.

He's talking about the North American Free Trade Agreement, a trading pact among the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and the Central American Free Trade Agreement, a series of accords between the U.S. and Western Hemisphere neighbors.
