Roger Wicker continues to falsely criticize Ronnie Musgrove's record as governor.
The truth; during difficult economic times for the nation Musgrove relied on his fiscally conservative principals to balance the budget without raising taxes. He ordered state agencies to cut their budgets by five percent. Musgrove cut spending by $50 million in his first budget, while managing to increase funding for education.
During his term in office, Musgrove's administration brought 52,000 jobs and more than $14 billion in new investments to the state and invested in creating rural jobs. Musgrove enacted the largest teacher raise in state history, strengthened school accountability standards, and made Mississippi the first state in the nation to have a computer hooked up in every classroom.
As a member of the legislature and as Lt. Governor, Musgrove fought for ethics reform and good government.
